Putin: Russia prepares massed strike with "Oreshnik" missiles
The Russian Ministry of Defence, in cooperation with the General Staff, is currently seeking suitable targets in Ukraine for a strike using the "Oreshnik" missile system, said President Vladimir Putin.
Putin highlighted that a strike on decision-making centres is not being ruled out, as Kyiv has previously attempted to target critical state infrastructure in Russia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He reminded that Ukraine had made several attempts to strike targets in Moscow and St Petersburg.
Currently, Russia has several "Oreshnik" missile systems ready for deployment and is compelled to conduct missile tests in response to long-range missile strikes on the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Putin stated that if "Oreshnik" missiles were used in a massed strike, the power of such an attack would be comparable to that of nuclear weapons.
The serial production of the "Oreshnik" system has already begun, and Putin noted that similar systems are unlikely to appear elsewhere in the world in the near future.
He also revealed that from next year, Moscow plans to increase production of these missiles by a further 25%.
Regarding the production of missile systems, Putin emphasized that Russia's output is ten times greater than the combined missile production of all NATO countries.
Meanwhile, while speaking at the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), summit Putin said that, on the night of November 27 to 28, Russia carried out a massive strike, deploying 90 missiles and 100 drones.
"As a result, 17 military targets in Ukraine were hit."
"Last night, we carried out an extensive strike, deploying 90 missiles of this type and 100 drones. A total of seventeen targets were hit, including military sites, defence industry facilities, and their supporting infrastructure," he stated.
