Qarabağ FK makes it through to Europa League group stage
A UEFA European League play-off match between Qarabağ FK football club from Azerbaijan and Olimpija of Slovenia on August 31 ended all square.
After playing the match in Baku 1:1, Qarabağ FK booked tickets to the Europa League group stage on a 3:1 aggregate win, Caliber.Az reports.
The Azerbaijani champions scored the opener in the 24th minute after defender Toral Bayramov found the net from the penalty spot. In the 36th minute, Olimpija midfielder Diogo Costa Pinto restored the status quo.
In the first meeting, held in Ljubljana a week ago, Qarabağ FK outclassed its rival 2:0.
The upcoming Europa League group stage participation will be the record tenth in a row for the Azerbaijani club.
The 2023/2024 Europa League draws will take place in Monaco, France on September 1.
