Remains of Azerbaijani soldier missing for 31 years laid to rest in Lachin
The remains of Jamal Mohubbat oglu Guliyev, an Azerbaijani soldier who had been missing in action since the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, were buried on August 2 in the Lachin district after his identity was confirmed.
The burial ceremony took place at the newly established Martyrs' Alley in Lachin. Attendees included Guliyev’s family, local officials, and community members. Notable figures present included the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Lachin district, officials from the district's Restoration, Construction, and Management Service, and the First Deputy Head of the Lachin District Executive Authority, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The ceremony featured a janaza prayer and other commemorative prayers for Guliyev and other martyrs. The remains were laid to rest with military honours, including a gun salute. The Azerbaijani flag that covered the coffin was presented to Guliyev's brother.
Guliyev, born in 1969 in the village of Chorman in the Lachin district, was involved in the defense of several districts during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. His remains were recently discovered in the village of Khudafarin in the Jabrayil district.
