Russia Today: Sputnik radio may continue broadcasting in Garabagh after Azerbaijan's permission
Director General of the Russia Today media group Dmitry Kiselev has said that Azerbaijan's permission is required to continue broadcasting Sputnik radio in Garabagh region.
Kiselev made this statement in response to a letter from First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin, according to Azertac.
According to the letter, the suspension of broadcasting of Sputnik radio in Garabagh is connected with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that Yerevan is ready to recognise Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and fix the Armenian territory within the 1991 borders. Kiselev stressed that the matter rests in suspension of radio broadcasting, rather than termination.
“Some time ago, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that to achieve peace, Yerevan is ready to recognise Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and fix the Armenian territory within the 1991 borders. We proceed from this statement and believe that the continuation of the broadcasting without the approval of the Azerbaijani authorities casts doubt on the sincerity of relations on the part of Moscow and is fraught with complication of interstate relations between our countries,” the letter says.
“If Baku permits to continue broadcasting in accordance with all relevant legal norms, we are ready to prolong the broadcast in the region,” Kiselev added.
