Turkish defence minister: Eurofighter talks continue with UK despite Germany's objections
Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler has confirmed that Türkiye’s procurement processes for Eurofighter Typhoon and F-16 fighter jets are proceeding as scheduled, dismissing concerns over Germany’s stance on the Eurofighter issue.
Speaking to journalists at a reception marking the 105th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, Güler stressed that Türkiye’s cooperation on the Eurofighter is primarily with the UK, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
“There is nothing definitive at the moment. The process continues exactly as it was. Our business is not with Germany but with the UK,” Güler said. “We will see in the coming period. Everything is proceeding exactly as it started and as we planned.”
He also reaffirmed that the F-16 procurement process with the United States is unfolding as expected. When asked about potential developments concerning the F-35 program, Güler highlighted the significance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's diplomatic engagements, suggesting that discussions would continue following the President’s meetings in Washington.
