Türkiye is actively preparing to fly the fifth-generation domestic military aircraft KAAN, which is presently under development.
Turkish pilots are actively training on domestically developed flight simulators, Anadolu Agency informs.
The aircraft design data and corresponding changes are reflected in the simulator system and checked during the flight.
One of the pilots testing the KAAN, Gokhan Bayramoglu, said that work on the simulator began in May after the president announced the name of the aircraft.
Bayramoglu recalled that the first flight is just a short time away and for now, engineers are checking and fine-tuning flight controls, landing gear and boarding mechanisms to avoid problems during the first flight.
"In modern systems, all engineering and piloting capabilities are supported by the simulator. We actually want to see how much this information deviates from the set parameters in the air, and how accurate the work done on the computer is," he said.
"So, the simulator is vital to us. We have already flown more than 40 flights. That's about 120-130 hours of flight time," Bayramoglu said.
