Türkiye arms AKINCI combat drone with supersonic missile VIDEO
The Turkish unmanned combat aerial vehicle Bayraktar AKINCI has successfully launched a supersonic IHA-230 missile, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 140 km.
The defence company Roketsan, which is greatly experienced in multiple launch rocket systems and the missiles and projectiles used in these systems, has developed the IHA230 based on the TRG-230 surface-to-surface ballistic missile, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Twitter page of the Turkish defence portal SavunmaSanayiST.com.
Roketsan has long conducted research under the “Speed - New Stealth” philosophy. One of the firstlings of this effort is the IHA230 supersonic airborne ballistic missile. This is a variation with supersonic speed, after which there will be a hypersonic rocket.
The missile has an effective range of 150 kilometres, depending on the speed and altitude at which it is launched. The IHA230, which has a high-explosive fragmentation warhead, also has armour-piercing or thermobaric warhead options to engage different types of targets.
