Türkiye asks US to co-produce F-16 engines for domestic fighter jets
Türkiye plans to produce engines for F-16 fighter jets jointly with the US in order to use them in its aircraft before developing engines domestically.
The country wants to manufacture American GE Aerospace's F110 engines to supply the initial phase of the domestic fifth-generation KAAN combat aircraft, Caliber.Az reports, citing X page of SavunmaSanayiST.com.
"Türkiye, Milli Muharip Uçak KAAN ve F-16'larda kullanılan F-110 Turbofan Motorlarını üretmek için ABD'den izin talebinde bulundu."

"Türkiye has asked the United States to jointly produce GE Aerospace engines used in F-16 aircraft in order to use them on its own fighter jets," the article says.
Ankara wants to use F110 engines in KAAN aircraft until the country develops its own engines.
The first flight of the KAAN aircraft is scheduled for January 2024.
