Türkiye strengthens bid to become key regional energy hub
Türkiye aims to become a key energy hub in the region.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, made the statement during a meeting with local businessmen in the US, Caliber.Az reports via Türkiye’s Anadolu Agency.
“We signed a significant agreement with Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria on the transportation and trade of green electricity. We aim to deliver electricity produced from renewable sources, such as solar and wind energy, to Europe via the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Bulgaria route. We have increased our natural gas capacity both in the east and the west.”, he emphasised.
“Through connections with Bulgaria and Greece, we have made a substantial contribution to the energy security of Southeast European countries. With the projects we have developed, in 2025, we started supplying gas to Syria and Nakhchivan. We intend to become a key country in the region in the field of energy,” Bayraktar emphasised.
Türkiye is already being viewed as a rising energy hub, especially in light of Europe’s energy crisis and the disruption of Russian gas supplies via Ukraine. Türkiye’s strategic role is underscored by its pipeline infrastructure and efforts to connect with European grids.
