Ukraine’s FM: Threats from Russia, Iran are linked
Ukraine’s foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha, has warned that security threats emanating from both Russia and Iran are interconnected and require a collective global defence strategy.
In a post on X, Sybiha drew parallels between Russian military operations in Ukraine and Iranian-backed activities in the Gulf region, saying the two should be viewed as “two theaters of one war," Caliber.Az reports.
Sybiha argued that the governments in Moscow and Tehran are cooperating closely, sharing weapons, technology and resources, and pose a shared threat to Ukraine, Europe, the United States, and Gulf states.
The same deadly buzz of “Shaheds” over Ukraine and the Gulf reminds us that developments in Europe and the Middle East are not isolated from each other.

"The same deadly buzz of 'Shaheds' over Ukraine and the Gulf reminds us that developments in Europe and the Middle East are not isolated from each other. In fact, the war against the Iranian regime and Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression are two theaters of one war," he said.
He said Ukraine has been sharing its battlefield experience with partners beyond its borders to help save lives not only in Eastern Europe but also in the Middle East.
Sybiha urged sustained and unified action from Ukraine’s allies. He stressed that pressure on Russia should increase rather than ease and called for continued support for Ukraine’s defence, framing it as an investment in broader international security.
"We expect the same realistic approach from our partners. We need resolute action against common threats both in Ukraine and the Gulf. This is not an 'either-or' choice. Strengthening defense of life along this global frontline enhances the security of all," he wrote.
He added that both the Russian and Iranian regimes “only understand the language of strength."
