UN welcomes Azerbaijan's financial assistance to SPECA fund
SPECA has once again intensified its activities, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Tatiana Molchan announced while speaking at the SPECA summit in Baku.
"The UN General Assembly recently adopted a resolution on this programme, I congratulate the participating countries on this occasion," she said, per APA.
According to her, the importance of SPECA for the region is growing.
"The economies of the countries of this region have grown five times. The world situation has changed, and political difficulties have increased, but at the same time, new opportunities have opened up for economic development, especially for transit and logistics chains. SPECA has succeeded in generating economic growth in its region. Great progress has been made in the field of green economy.
Tatiana Molchan noted that SPECA is a prime example of multilateral cooperation:
"We see the potential for the development of regional ties within this platform, we can realise it through joint efforts. We expect that the issue of establishing the SPECA Trust Fund will be resolved in the near future. We welcome Azerbaijan's decision to voluntarily transfer aid to the fund and believe that other countries will also invest in this fund".
