On April 4, on the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, the United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) introduced Aiden Ragimov, an Azerbaijani participant in the Children Against Mines (CHAMP) program of the Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI).
USAAC thanked Aiden for his tireless efforts to advocate for a mine-free world.
This school year, Aiden voluntarily joined MLI's CHAMP program, according to the Chamber. He has committed to raising sufficient funding for a Mine Detection Dog that will sniff out mines and save lives in the war-affected territories of Azerbaijan.
"This school year, I am challenging myself to raise funds to sponsor my very own Mine Detection Dog to be sent to Azerbaijan to assist in the clearance of land mines left on recently liberated lands in Azerbaijan," Aiden wrote on MLI's website.
"By sniffing out the explosive odours in landmines, the Marshall Legacy Institute's Mine Detection Dogs can save thousands of lives and limbs by returning the land to the people for its safe and productive use. MLI has provided more than 275 of these hero canines to countries in need, and I am on a mission to fundraise one more. By helping me sponsor a Mine Detection Dog, you will be creating a lifesaving impact on thousands of people and helping to foster a mine-free work," he concluded.
