US to provide $20 million in aid to Armenia for "security"
The United States is working with Congress, USAID, and the State Department to allocate $20 million to Armenia to enhance cybersecurity, border and energy security, and resilience.
The statement was voiced by USAID Coordinator Samantha Power during an open discussion titled “Democracy Results” in New York, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"Now, I am pleased to take this opportunity to announce that we are working with Congress, USAID, and the US Department of State to ensure that Armenia is allocated $20 million dollars aimed at promoting cybersecurity, border and energy security, and resilience," Power said during the event, which was organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Power highlighted her recent efforts to support Armenia, noting her visit to Brussels earlier this year to discuss steps toward advancing Armenia’s democratic and peaceful future.
“I had the opportunity to visit Brussels this spring to discuss concrete steps they can take to support Armenia's democratic and peaceful future,” she added.
In July, Power visited Yerevan to further advance these efforts and observe firsthand Armenia’s progress toward democracy. Her visit sought to provide a renewed boost to the cooperation between the US and Armenia as the latter continues its path of democratic development.
