Western Azerbaijan Community calls on Armenia to respect Azerbaijan's territorial integrity

The Western Azerbaijan Community has strongly condemned Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan’s recent comments at the Forum of Ancient Civilizations, where he asserted that “Armenian cultural heritage” in Azerbaijan is under threat.

In a statement, the community criticized Mirzoyan’s comments as “full of slander,” asserting, “this statement shows that Armenia still has territorial claims to Azerbaijan,” Caliber.Az reports.

They pointed out that the use of “Nagorno-Karabakh” in his speech demonstrates Armenia's insincerity regarding Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

“Armenia has systematically destroyed Azerbaijani cultural heritage both on its territory and in the regions previously under its occupation,” the statement continued, labelling the Armenian minister's claims as hypocritical.

Regarding Mirzoyan's call for a UNESCO mission, the community countered that such a mission should instead be sent to Armenia, noting, “Because of Armenia's refusal, the UNESCO mission never reached that country.”

The West Azerbaijan Community concluded their remarks by demanding, “We call on Armenia to respect the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and to allow a UNESCO mission to assess the state of Azerbaijani cultural heritage in Armenia. It is crucial for Armenia to take necessary measures to restore, preserve, and protect the destroyed monuments of Azerbaijan.”
