Official: Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process - important issue on US Secretary of State’s agenda
POLITICS 28 January 2023 - 17:35
US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried has said that the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process is one of the important issues on the agenda of US Secretary of State Blinken.
“This issue includes discussions of numerous complex issues, including the demarcation of the border, the resumption of transportation routes between countries,” Donfried said in an interview with the Voice of America Armenian Service, Report informs.
She noted that the US supports direct dialogue between the sides and emphasises the need for it, as this is the only way to resolve the above-mentioned complex issues.
“We think that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are committed to this process. We are ready to help, realising that the difficult decisions that should be made to achieve peace must be made in Yerevan and Baku,” Donfried said, noting that the US would not like to see any escalation of the situation.
