Armenian PM, EC President engage in dialogue on Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization during Munich Security Conference

14 February 2025 15:46

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and European Council President António Costa met on February 14 during the Munich Security Conference to discuss the ongoing efforts to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Pashinyan provided details of the meeting on X, stating: "Had a meaningful exchange with the President of the European Council on the sidelines of MSC 2025," Caliber.Az reports.

"Discussed key issues on Armenia-European Union partnership. Exchanged views on the latest regional developments and the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."

Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2025 brings together leaders and experts to address critical security concerns. From February 14 to 16, the conference will focus on the war in Ukraine, the crisis in Gaza, and shifting international alliances, providing a vital platform for high-level dialogue.

Amid escalating regional conflicts, MSC 2025 offers an opportunity to discuss strategic realignments and multilateral cooperation in the face of growing geopolitical uncertainty.

United Nations officials, including UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, will play a key role at the conference. They reaffirm the UN’s commitment to fostering dialogue and addressing humanitarian crises.

Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, will hold a press conference on February 15, which will be streamed live, shedding light on the humanitarian toll of ongoing conflicts.

In addition to Middle East issues, the conference will address rising global security challenges. U.S. Vice President JD Vance, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will discuss NATO’s future, global defence spending, cybersecurity threats, and tensions in the Indo-Pacific.

As global crises intensify, MSC 2025 underscores the importance of sustained international cooperation to resolve complex security issues and promote peace.
