Azerbaijan leads CICA discussions on 2026 plans and organizational transformation
On December 15 and 17, 2025, the Special Working Group and the Senior Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building in Asia (CICA) convened online under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
As the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az, during the meetings, CICA Member States discussed key areas of cooperation and interaction within the Conference and its advisory bodies. Discussions focused on plans and concepts for confidence-building measures and related activities scheduled for 2026.
Member States also exchanged views on the institutional development of CICA, including the ongoing transformation process aimed at establishing the Conference as an international organisation, in line with the decision of the 6th CICA Summit. Participants expressed strong support for the Chairmanship’s efforts in advancing this initiative.
At the session of the Senior Officials Committee, the Secretary General presented the annual report on CICA’s activities under Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship throughout 2025.
The Committee reviewed and adopted key decisions, including those related to the CICA Plan of Implementation of Confidence-Building Measures and the budget of the CICA Secretariat for 2026, as well as other procedural matters necessary for the effective functioning of the organisation.
These meetings highlighted Azerbaijan’s active role in promoting regional cooperation, confidence-building, and institutional strengthening within CICA.
