Azerbaijan's major airport serves over four million passengers
The main air harbour of Azerbaijan - Heydar Aliyev International Airport - has served 4.04 million people since early 2022.
In total, during the specified period, the country's airports served about five million people, Caliber.Az reports, citing the airport's press service.
In November of this year, the Baku airport served 375,000 passengers, 324,000 of whom were international flight passengers.
National air carriers AZAL and Buta Airways served 91,000 and 45,000 passengers on international routes in November, respectively, the share of airlines from the total number of international traffic were 28 per cent and 14 per cent.
In November 2022, 28 foreign airlines made regular flights to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The largest number of passengers, in addition to AZAL and Buta Airways, were transported by Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, Utair, FlyDubai and Azimuth Airlines.
The top 10 most popular international destinations from Baku last month included Moscow, Istanbul, Dubai, Tbilisi, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Tashkent, Mineralnye Vody, Jeddah and Ankara. In total, 225,000 people were served in these areas.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport (IATA: GYD) is the largest airport in Azerbaijan and the region in terms of passenger and cargo traffic, take-off and landing operations, the area of the terminal complex and the capacity of the cargo complex.
Skytrax awarded Baku airport the highest rating of "5 stars", as well as the highest rating for epidemiological safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In June of this year, Heydar Aliyev International Airport for the fifth time in a row confirmed its status as the best airport in the CIS countries according to the authoritative international agency Skytrax World Airport Awards. This award for airports is a benchmark of quality for the industry.
