Azerbaijan to attend Serbia energy talks on security, investment, green transition
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Elnur Soltanov, will represent the country at an energy forum in Serbia.
Soltanov is due to travel to Belgrade to take part in the event, scheduled for May 11–12, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Key topics on the agenda include energy security, the green transition, renewable energy and regional cooperation.
The Belgrade Energy Forum is regarded as one of the leading platforms in the region. To date, it has attracted around 1,500 participants from various countries. This year’s edition is expected to bring together government officials, international organisations, investors and energy companies.
Energy cooperation remains a central pillar of Azerbaijan–Serbia economic relations. Azerbaijan is seen as an important partner in diversifying Serbia’s gas supplies and currently exports natural gas to the country.
Both sides are also working to strengthen energy security, including through the Bulgaria–Serbia interconnector. Discussions are ongoing over potential involvement by SOCAR in energy projects in Serbia, as well as possible increases in gas supplies.
