Azerbaijan to rename several settlements in liberated lands

The Toponymy Commission under the Azerbaijani parliament has made a decision to rename several settlements in the Azerbaijani liberated territories.

The decision was made at a commission meeting on October 23, the Press and PR Department of the Azerbaijani parliament told Report.

Chairman of the commission Isa Habibbayli said that the agenda also included the issue of choosing a name for a new settlement created on the administrative territory of the Absheron district of Baku.

Following the discussions, taking into account citizens’ requests, a decision was made to name the new settlement “Shafag”, he said.

Habibbayli noted that in line with the new realities in the region, the commission considered many issues related to the renaming of settlements in the liberated territories and made appropriate decisions.
