Azerbaijani, Pakistani foreign ministers discuss strategic ties, upcoming ECO summit
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar have discussed expanding strategic cooperation and preparations for the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit.
During the discussion, the two ministers reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, which spans a broad range of sectors, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum of high-level and top-level visits and exchanged views on upcoming diplomatic contacts.
Particular emphasis was placed on the preparations for the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, scheduled to be held in Khankendi on July 3–4, 2025.
The ministers also addressed other issues of bilateral and regional importance, emphasising matters of mutual interest.
Organisational aspects of the upcoming ECO summit were discussed in detail, including the composition of national delegations and the working agenda of the forum.
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), of which Azerbaijan has been a member since 1992, is a political and economic intergovernmental institution in Eurasia, founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye. It provides a platform to examine strategies for promoting growth and facilitating trade and investment opportunities.
