COP29 to air global "Daily Show" with real-time climate updates
The Azerbaijani operating company for COP29 has announced a new daily television program called the "Daily Show," set to broadcast worldwide during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
"Daily Show" will offer viewers a comprehensive daily overview of developments at the COP29 conference, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The program will be broadcast from a studio at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, the conference's host venue. Viewers can access the show via television, online streaming platforms, and official COP29 channels.
The "Daily Show" will feature in-depth interviews, expert analysis, and detailed information about the conference, translating complex technical issues into clear and accessible language for a global audience. It aims to keep viewers informed about COP activities, key officials, climate solutions, and other significant highlights.
Mukhtar Babayev, the President-designate of COP29, emphasized the increasing global demand for climate information, noting, "As climate change becomes more tangible worldwide, the need for clear and understandable communication is growing. The 'Daily Show' is a step towards making climate solutions more accessible to a broader audience."
The program will be produced by the British media company Hi Impact, known for its expertise in organizing high-quality broadcasts at global events. The COP29 operating company is also exploring potential partnerships to expand the show's reach.
The partner selection process for the "Daily Show" project will continue until the end of September 2024, with final decisions to be made by the COP29 Presidency and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Details and application forms for partnership are available on the official COP29 website.
In November, Azerbaijan will host COP29, a decision solidified during the COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai on December 11, 2023. Baku is preparing to become the epicentre of global climate discussions, with an estimated 70,000 to 80,000 international guests expected to attend.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was established at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, aimed at mitigating human impacts on the climate system. The Conference of the Parties (COP), which includes 198 member countries, functions as the supreme body overseeing the UNFCCC's implementation. COP meetings are typically held annually, with the first taking place in March 1995 in Berlin, and the UNFCCC secretariat is based in Bonn.
