Envoy: Iran and Russia’s strategic alliance not targeted at third parties
The Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, stated that the strategic alliance between Tehran and Moscow is not aimed at third parties, highlighting that the agreement also considers Armenia's interests.
Speaking at a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Yerevan, Sobhani clarified that the pact, signed between the two nations, is designed to deepen cooperation across the Middle East, South Caucasus, and within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“The document is not aimed against any third country. Moreover, it takes Armenia’s interests into consideration. This agreement seeks to enhance cooperation in the Middle East, South Caucasus, within the EAEU, and more,” said Sobhani.
The comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran was signed on January 17 in Moscow by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The deal outlines legal frameworks to facilitate long-term cooperation, affirming the two countries as strategic partners. It covers a broad range of sectors, including defence, counterterrorism, energy, finance, transport, industry, agriculture, culture, and science.
