EU regrets resumption of direct air service between Russia, Georgia
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell regrets that direct air communication between Georgia and Russia was restored.
"This is a message related to Georgia's foreign policy. Georgia has received certain obligations under the Association Agreement and must join the European Union. At this stage, there are certainly many directions to improve [ the position],” he said, Caliber.Az reports with reference to Georgian media.
“We need to suppress Russia's hybrid activities - military propaganda and other initiatives. For this reason, the EU is focusing on strengthening independent civil society in Georgia, building resilience, and fighting disinformation.
The most important thing is to have a vibrant democratic system in the country and to be able to provide information freely. Providing information is a priori important in this process" Borrel noted.
To recall, on May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on direct air communication with Georgia, interrupted in 2019 at the initiative of Moscow.
