Families returned to Fuzuli receive house keys UPDATED
The first 23 families resettling to Fuzuli on August 18 have reached their destination.
The families arriving in Fuzuli were met by representatives of the Special Representation of the Azerbaijani president in the territories of the Garabagh economic region (except Shusha district) liberated from occupation, the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, Azertag reports.
They were congratulated on the occasion of settling in their native land. Residents of Fuzuli expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for all-round state care, as well as to the Azerbaijani army, soldiers and officers who liberated the lands from occupation.
It should be noted that the distribution of houses was carried out by drawing lots based on the principles of transparency and fairness and in accordance with the current procedure for providing new living spaces to former IDPs.
The draw was held on August 5 at the Repatriation Department of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, and 144 families (509 people) took part in it.
According to the composition of the families, 51 of them were provided with two-room flats, 76 with three-room flats and 17 with four-room flats. In the coming days, the resettlement of families in Fuzuli city will continue.

As part of the return of former IDPs to their native lands, the first 23 families travelled to Fuzuli.
The send-off ceremony was held at Gobupark-3 residential complex in Baku's Garadagh district, according to Report.
At the preliminary stage, a total of 90 people are returning to Fuzuli.
It should be noted that on August 5, the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs of Azerbaijan held a drawing of lots to determine the families going to their native lands within the first stage of return. 144 families (509 persons) took part in the draw. Taking into account family composition, 51 of them were provided with two-room flats, 76 with three-room flats, and 17 with four-room flats.
Until now, these families have been temporarily residing in Baku, Sumgayit, and Absheron district.
Azerbaijan started the return of former internally displaced persons to the liberated lands in July 2022. Since then, 96 families have been brought back to the Aghali village of the Zangilan district.
In March of this year, 20 families comprising 90 people resettled in Talish, Tartar district. By the end of 2023, the Sus and Zabukh villages of Lachin will also welcome their residents back.
The government of Azerbaijan plans to resettle 2,000 families or 10,000 people in the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions by the end of 2023.
According to a decree signed in November 2022 by President Aliyev approving the "First State program on the Great Return to Azerbaijan's liberated territories”, a total of 280,000 hectares (692,000 acres) of lands in the Karabakh and East Zangazur regions will be readied for resettlement by 2026.
By 2026, a total of 34,500 families will be relocated to the Karabakh and East Zangazur regions. To accommodate them, 34,500 apartments and private houses will be built by 2026.
