IOC confirms position on Russian athletes' eligibility for 2024 Olympics
The head of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malago, has stated that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had confirmed its position on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes with neutral status.
Malago said the call on the subject took place on March 27, Gazeta.Ru reports.
"The IOC confirms its position on protecting the right of athletes to participate without a national identity, hence - without a flag, an anthem, and without teams," the official said.
The IOC executive committee will discuss the admission of Russians to international competitions on 28 March.
On January 25, the IOC announced that it was considering the possibility of allowing Russian athletes who had not expressed support for the special operation in Ukraine to take part in international competitions in neutral status.
