The Russian State Duma has passed a law on the denunciation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE).
The document was submitted to the lower house of parliament by Russian President Vladimir Putin, TASS reports.
The CFE Treaty was signed in 1990 and adapted in 1997.
Earlier, the denunciation of the CFE Treaty was supported by State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, said leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky.
According to him, the withdrawal from the CFE Treaty and its denunciation is fully in the national interests of Russia.
