Russia returns infected tomatoes to Azerbaijan
Specialists of the territorial department of Rosselkhoznadzor have found 47 tons of virus-infected tomatoes in a temporary storage warehouse in the Privolzhsky district of the Astrakhan region.
According to Unikal, citing Russian media, during the raid Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) was detected in tomatoes (with a total weight of 47 tons) brought from Azerbaijan for sale.
Infection with a quarantine object was confirmed by a laboratory examination, which was carried out by specialists from the Astrakhan branch of the Rostov Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor.
As a result, a batch of 47 tons was returned “to the country of departure”, in full compliance with the requirements of the legislation in the field of plant quarantine of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Russian Federation.
