Russia’s FSB foils railway terror plot in Sevastopol
In Sevastopol, authorities detained a young man attempting to carry out a terrorist attack on the railway and an electrical substation, according to the FSB (Federal Security Service).
According to the agency, the 19-year-old was allegedly influenced by phone scammers and was acting on instructions from “Ukrainian handlers,” Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Investigators said he conducted reconnaissance of the city’s transport and energy infrastructure.
At the Inkerman railway station, he tried to break into a relay cabinet and set fire to a battery cabinet, then attempted to ignite a transformer substation in the Nakhimovsky district.
The investigation claims that scammers convinced him of a false threat of criminal prosecution, which prompted him to attempt the attacks.
