Russian MFA: Western dominance gone, France must adapt to new realities
The Russian Foreign Ministry has emphasized that the era of Western dominance is over, warning that France's reluctance to acknowledge this shift could lead it to the margins of historical relevance.
The ministry made the statement commemorating the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and the USSR, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"The dominance of the West is a thing of the past," the ministry asserted. "France, clinging to this past, runs the risk of being at the back of the historical process. The sooner Paris realizes this, the better it will be for France and the French."
The ministry acknowledged the current crisis in Russian-French relations but expressed optimism that both countries would find a way to navigate their challenges. However, it cautioned that a return to previous models of cooperation is unlikely.
"Whatever trials Russian-French relations may still have to go through, the French people will say their word, and our countries will overcome the current crisis," the statement read. "It is clear that a return to the previous principles and models of cooperation is hardly possible. Trust has been seriously and permanently undermined."
This statement highlights the ongoing tensions between Russia and Western nations, particularly in the context of shifting global power dynamics and the evolving nature of international relations. As both countries mark a century of diplomatic ties, the future of their partnership appears uncertain amid broader geopolitical challenges.
