Turkish military contractor ASELSAN develops modern systems for Altay tank line PHOTO
The flagship of the Turkish defense industry, ASELSAN, contributes to the planned serial production of domestic "Altay" tanks this year.
ASELSAN, as part of the Altay tank project, had previously signed a contract worth about €841 million with another Turkish vehicle producer, BMC.
According to the agreement, ASELSAN will supply parts and inspection services to the tank manufacturer until 2026.
The Administration of the Turkish Defense Industry announced earlier that the first deliveries of serial tanks will begin without delay this year. "We are ready to fulfill all obligations on this issue", the Head of Management and CEO of ASELSAN, Haluk Gergyun, told Anadolu agency.
He drew attention to the development of ASELSAN Active Tank Protection Systems, in particular the cumulative protection system PULAT, which minimizes damage from a radio-controlled projectile.
According to Gergyun, the development of a whole range of modern systems for Altay tanks continues successfully.
The ASELSAN Director expressed confidence that after the start of serial production, Türkiye will be able to export the Altay tanks.
