Turkish police uncover illegal alcohol plants as part of Operation ÇENGEL-14-15 VIDEO
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has said that Operation ÇENGEL-14-15 was carried out in 81 Turkish provinces as part of efforts to combat the production of counterfeit alcohol.
"During the operation against the production of counterfeit alcohol, 136,904 litres of counterfeit alcohol and ethyl alcohol were seized, with a market value of approximately 74 million Turkish lira [$2.097 million]. A total of 279 individuals were detained, and 21 illegal counterfeit alcohol production plants were uncovered," Caliber.Az reports, citing the minister’s message on X.

Earlier, police seized over 28 tons of counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul. The market value of the confiscated counterfeit alcohol is approximately 15 million Turkish lira, along with more than 15,000 counterfeit tax stamps. The counterfeit alcohol was sold in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Antalya, and Muğla. Nine individuals suspected of producing counterfeit alcohol were arrested by the police.
