Türkiye warns of nuclear risks in ongoing Ukraine conflict
Türkiye is increasingly concerned about the potential for the Ukraine conflict to escalate into a nuclear war.
This warning was issued by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during his visit to Slovenia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“The war between Russia and Ukraine has unfortunately continued for the third year in the heart of Europe. It carries the risk of evolving into a nuclear conflict,” Fidan stated.
He emphasized Türkiye's position in favour of an immediate ceasefire and the commencement of peace negotiations. Fidan highlighted the challenges in predicting all the risks associated with the ongoing conflict.
“There is nothing more humane than calling for an end to this war. To achieve this, it is crucial to start negotiations. We must also prevent further destruction in our region,” he said.
Fidan also noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been actively communicating with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, proposing measures that could aid in resolving the conflict.
