Ukrainian MP expresses displeasure with PACE's approach towards Azerbaijan
Member of the Ukrainian Rada delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Oleksiy Honcharenko has expressed displeasure over PACE's approach towards Azerbaijan.
"We are saddened by PACE's attitude towards Azerbaijan," Honcharenko, said while addressing the winter session of the assembly, Report informs.
“This institute treats Azerbaijan very harshly. What is the reason for this? Azerbaijan has been a member of the Council of Europe since 2001. Since then, the situation in Azerbaijan has not worsened at all. The only thing that has changed is that the republic has restored its territorial integrity within its legal borders,” Honcharenko said.
The Ukrainian deputy noted that today Azerbaijan is doing everything possible to sign a peace treaty with Armenia: “Azerbaijan is trying to restore peaceful relations with Armenia. We all want it because we all need it. Let's all unite for the sake of this peace."
