The Old Continent against the Turkic world Borrell in the garb of a new crusader

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán did not receive a mandate from the EU to represent the organization at the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Shusha, Azerbaijan, according to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. Moreover, the EU diplomatic service even went so far as to issue a corresponding statement, which also expressed "concern" about the participation of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, in the summit.

To call this attack another foolishness is an understatement. Both the EU in general and Borrell in particular must be aware of the well-known, obvious facts. For instance, since the end of 2018, Hungary has been an observer in the Organization of Turkic States and can request full membership. To recall, the VII Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States was held in Baku in October 2019, and Viktor Orbán also participated in it. At that time, Borrell did not raise any objections, but now he finds it important to showcase new dimensions of his foolishness and Turkophobia, so to speak, in full force.

It is clear that Viktor Orbán did not seek an EU mandate for his visit to the liberated Shusha for the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States. It was a visit by the leader of a friendly country conducting an independent policy based on Hungary’s national interests and historical past. Or does the EU want to prohibit Hungarians from recalling their Turkic roots?! Moreover, no one needed to seek permission for the participation of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, in the summit.

Undoubtedly, we are dealing with another officially stated example of Turkophobia and Islamophobia in the EU. This is further highlighted by the scandalous and unjust UEFA decision to suspend Turkish national team defender Merih Demiral for two matches due to the “wolf salute” (Bozkurt) gesture he made during the European Championship match. Everyone saw the consequences. Tens of thousands of Turkish fans at their national team's quarter-final match against the Dutch displayed this gesture from the stands. And that was the right thing to do. Because the attempt to ban one of the symbols of the Turkic world by those who react calmly to the burning of the Holy Quran in various European cities is immoral. It is also immoral to pressure the Turkic world, of which the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Hungary are a part, by those who have hosted and given a platform to such war criminals as the second and third presidents of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan.

And here it makes sense to recall Josep Borrell personally. He did not condemn Armenia for shelling peaceful Azerbaijani cities during the 44-day war. This is despite the fact that on December 11, 2020, Human Rights Watch (HRW) published a report stating that Armenian forces carried out indiscriminate rocket attacks on Azerbaijan during the fighting from September to November 2020. But even after this report was released, Borrell did not dare to throw even a small stone at Armenia for the killings resulting from the rocket strikes on Azerbaijani elderly, women, and children.

I will recall another episode. It took place in New York, where, at France's initiative, a UN Security Council meeting was held, during which Borrell made openly provocative statements. He began his speech with words of "solidarity with the Armenians of Karabakh." This was a position far from justice, diplomacy, and decency. It was an open support of separatism, ignoring the principle of territorial integrity of states. But that was not all.

Speaking at the 25th EU-NGO Forum for Human Rights, he blatantly lied. " Look for example at what has happened in Azerbaijan and Armenia. A long-frozen conflict that suddenly has been – I would not say solved – but decisively determined by a military intervention that, in one week, made 150,000 people move. In one week. Like this. 150,000 people had to abandon their houses and run," Borrell lied through his teeth.

This was the speech of someone deeply regretting that Azerbaijan managed to restore its territorial integrity, freeing itself from Armenian separatism. It was the speech of an advocate for the Armenian side, willing to artificially and greatly inflate the numbers of Armenians who, illegally and with the passports of the occupying state, lived on the Azerbaijani territory but ultimately left peacefully and calmly in their own cars. It was the speech of a Turkophobe and an Islamophobe. Borrell appeared in the same guise when he accused the Hungarian Prime Minister of attending the Organization of Turkic States summit in the liberated Shusha. The sight of Shusha, rapidly being restored, infuriates people like Borrell. But all their efforts are worthless. The summit in Shusha took place, Tatar and Orbán participated, and the Karabakh Declaration was adopted as a result.

By the way, speaking in the liberated and rapidly restoring Shusha, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev rightly noted that the 21st century should become the century of the prosperity of the Turkic world. And so it will be. Moreover, we already see evidence that the Turkic world is a geopolitical factor. This is despite the speeches and actions of neo-crusaders like Borrell.
