Azerbaijan hands over homes to returning IDP families PHOTO/UPDATED
Keys to houses have been handed over to families who returned to the settlements of Hadrut and Girmizi Bazar in the Khojavend district.

According to Report, the key handover ceremony was attended by representatives of the Special Representation of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend districts, as well as officials from the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.
At this stage, 10 families comprising 47 people have returned to Hadrut, while 20 families (91 people) have resettled in Girmizi Bazar.

Keys to apartments have also been handed over to 30 families who resettled in Khojaly.

According to Report, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, the Special Representation of the President of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, as well as the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts.
With this latest resettlement, 144 families (651 people) have now settled in Khojaly. Overall, 950 families (3,916 people) have returned to the Khojaly district.

Another group of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) has left for Khojaly city and the villages of Hadrut and Girmizi Bazar in Azerbaijan's Khojavand district.
Sixty families, previously temporarily housed in various regions of the country, primarily in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings, are returning to their native lands, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
At this stage, 30 families (149 people) have returned to the town of Khojaly, 10 families (47 people) to the village of Hadrut, and 20 families (91 people) to the village of Girmizi Bazar.
Launched after Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day 2020 war, the Great Return initiative aims to resettle over one million formerly internally displaced persons (IDPs) in their ancestral lands by 2030. The programme focuses on rebuilding housing and infrastructure, establishing schools and healthcare facilities, restoring utilities, clearing mines, and promoting sustainable development.
