Any strike on Russian soil to be met with retaliation, warns intelligence chief
Sergei Naryshkin, Director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, has issued a stark warning that any attempts by certain NATO member states to launch strikes on Russian territory from a distance will not go unchallenged.
Naryshkin also remarked that Western political and military elites are increasingly recognising the seriousness of Russia's intentions and understanding the need for restraint, to avoid becoming embroiled in a devastating military conflict, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
“Attempts by some NATO allies to facilitate potential long-range strikes with Western weaponry into the depths of Russian territory will not go unpunished,” he stated.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that Russian forces had struck 6 American ATACMS missiles in the Bryansk region, 5 of which were intercepted, and one was damaged.
It also highlighted the degradation of the bureaucratic layers in the leading European countries, which, according to its view, serve the interests of globalist capital.
Notably, on November 17, US President Joe Biden has authorised Ukraine to use long-range missiles, provided by the United States, to target Russian positions, according to US officials.
This decision represents a significant shift in Washington's stance, after months of denying Kyiv’s requests to deploy the ATACMS missiles beyond its own borders.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the announcement on Sunday, which came through briefings from US officials, by stating, "Such matters are not publicly announced; the missiles will speak for themselves."
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously issued warnings to Western nations, claiming that such a move would amount to "direct participation" by NATO in the conflict in Ukraine.
