The commander of a military unit in Armenia has embezzled coupons intended for the purchase of 4,500 litres of gasoline and 3,700 litres of diesel worth $6,000.
The commander paid the rent with part of the coupons and sold some of them, Sputnik-Armenia reports, citing Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office.
The case was sent to Armenia’s Corruption Prevention Commission and the defendant pleaded guilty and confessed. He also made amends for the damage caused to the state.
The prosecutor applied to the Defence Ministry for a review of the embezzlement of the military officer's continued service as a unit commander.
