Armenian parliament does not adopt draft resolution of opposition Pashinyan's party votes against "Karabakh's right for self-determination"
The members of Armenia’s ruling “Civil Contract” (CC) party did not vote for a draft submitted by the opposition factions during the meeting of the Council of the National Assembly.
According to Caliber.Az, referring to the Armenian media, the Head of the CC party, Hayk Konjoryan, shared this information with journalists on December 14.
“There were two projects in the appeal of the CC party and two opposition factions. We have invited the opposition in solidarity to discuss the draft of one project to send a single message to the international community. Our opposition colleagues disagreed, and we voted to have our draft submitted to the National Assembly. We did not vote on them. We were ready to join the opposition project, but we had comments on it that were unacceptable to them”, Konjoryan explained.
According to him, the adopted statement of the National Assembly should match and be synchronized with the official foreign policy of the ministry of foreign affairs.
Commenting on this incident, the oppositional MPs stated, that the leaders of Armenia do not want to “condemn the actions of Azerbaijan in the Lachin corridor” against the formulation of “Karabakh’s right to self-determination”.
“Representatives of CC have demanded the removal of a paragraph from the text, which refers to the right of the people of Nagorno Karabakh for self-determination”, said Archvik Minasyan, the Secretary of the political faction of former President, Robert Kocharyan, called “Armenia Alliance”.
