Azerbaijan falls short of OPEC+ oil output quota in September
Azerbaijan’s average daily oil production stood at 460,000 barrels per day (bpd) in September 2025, falling 91,000 barrels short of its OPEC+ quota, according to the organisation’s latest monthly report.
The figures show that Azerbaijan’s output was slightly higher than in August, rising by about 4,000 barrels per day, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
However, it remained well below the official OPEC+ production limit of 551,000 bpd set for the country this year.
Data from OPEC indicate a gradual decline in Azerbaijan’s oil production over recent months. The country’s average daily output reached 465,000 barrels in the first quarter of 2025, 462,000 barrels in the second, and 458,000 barrels in the third.
By comparison, Azerbaijan produced an average of 482,000 barrels per day in 2024, suggesting a continued downward trend despite a modest uptick in September.
OPEC+ is a coalition of the 13 OPEC member countries and additional oil-producing nations, including Russia, formed to coordinate production levels and stabilise global oil markets.
The alliance sets production quotas for its members to manage supply, support prices, and prevent market volatility. Azerbaijan, while not an OPEC member, participates in OPEC+ agreements and is assigned a production target—551,000 barrels per day for 2025.
Compliance with these quotas is monitored through monthly OPEC reports, which show Azerbaijan’s output has remained slightly below the limit in recent months.
OPEC+ decisions can influence global oil prices and have broader economic implications for participating and non-participating countries alike.
