Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan augment bilateral educational ties with 40 MOUs signed

A round table dedicated to expanding cooperation in higher education between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan was held at ADA University on March 4.

The event brought together the Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, as well as rectors of leading universities from both countries, Caliber.Az reports.

Delivering a welcoming speech, the Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev greeted the participants and emphasized the professionalism of the Kazakh teaching staff working at ADA University. He noted that efforts will continue to enhance cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the field of science and education.

Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek highlighted that new opportunities for collaboration in higher education and technology have emerged between the two nations. “Brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan should be reflected in our educational and scientific cooperation,” he stated.

He further emphasized Kazakhstan's intent to expand cooperation in higher education, adding that both countries are working on educational strategies, partnership plans, and innovative approaches. “Joint activities are being expanded to create new opportunities in academic and research fields,” Nurbek noted.

In turn, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev stressed the importance of developing bilateral educational cooperation. He revealed that a decision has been made to implement a similar model of action in the education sector of both countries.

“Both Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have their national interests, and based on these interests, we have agreed to adopt a similar approach in the field of education,” Amrullayev explained. He underlined that the primary goal is to strengthen higher education institutions and ensure their sustainable development. Speaking about the upcoming Kazakh university education exhibition in Baku, the minister described it as a significant step toward fostering academic collaboration.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Alim Bayel, also addressed the round table, emphasizing that large-scale reforms are being carried out in the education sector of both countries. “Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are committed to further strengthening cooperation in the field of education,” the ambassador noted.

During the discussions, participants explored ways to effectively implement mutual double diploma programs, foster innovations, promote scientific research and expand student and faculty exchange programs.

The event concluded with the signing ceremony of 40 Memorandums of Understanding, marking a significant milestone in Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan educational collaboration. A total of 17 universities from both countries participated in the agreement, reinforcing their commitment to academic and scientific exchange.
