Azerbaijan one of Georgia’s main trading partners in exports
Georgia’s National Statistics Service revealed that Azerbaijan was the second-largest trade partner of Georgia in terms of exports from January to August 2022.
In the first eight months of 2022, the volume of foreign trade rose by 36.6 per cent compared to the same period of 2021, and amounted to $11.9 billion, the statistics service said, Report informs, citing Georgian media.
During the reporting period, the value of exports from Georgia increased by 36.9 per cent to $3.57 billion, and imports by 36.5 per cent to $8.36 billion. The negative trade balance amounted to $4.79 billion, which is 40.2 per cent of the foreign trade turnover.
In the meantime, Türkiye topped the list of Georgia's largest trading partners with $1.8 billion; followed by Russia, with $1.5 billion; China - with $1.2 billion; Azerbaijan - with $843.3 million and the United States - with $760.4 million.
China was also Georgia's largest trading partner in terms of exports in the specified period, with $502.6 million. They are followed by Azerbaijan - with $421.5 million; Russia - with $409.3 million; Türkiye - with $321.5 million and Armenia - with $302.4 million.
In terms of imports, Georgia's largest trading partners were Türkiye, Russia, China, US and Azerbaijan, with $1.5 billion; $1.1 billion; $724 million; $569.3 million and $421.8 million.
