Azerbaijani State Border Service officers have prevented the smuggling of 21.745 kg of drugs from Iran in the service area of the Goytapa and Horadiz border detachments.
At 03:05 am on July 2, the smuggling of 5,870 kg of drugs into Azerbaijan was prevented at the service area of the Goytapa border detachment’s border outpost near Yardimli district’s Garavuldash village, Caliber.Az reports.
In addition, at 13:30 on July 3, as a result of operational measures carried out by employees of the Goytapa border detachment, 10,048 kg of drugs were confiscated in the service area of the border outpost, located near the village of Yusifli in Jalilabad region.
On July 4 at 00:45, some 5,395 kg of drugs were prevented from being smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan at the Horadiz border guard outpost near Gazakhlar village of Fuzuli district.
The Horadiz border detachment operates in the liberated Fuzuli District of Azerbaijan on the border with Iran. After liberating its lands from the Armenian occupation during the 44-day war in 2020, Azerbaijan has regained control over the 132-km section of the Azerbaijani-Iranian border.
Following the restoration of its territorial integrity, Azerbaijan is taking steps to ensure the safety and restoration of order in the liberated lands. One of these measures is to halt the flow of drugs in the region that was previously controlled by Armenia's illegal regime in Karabakh.
