Azerbaijan, Somalia discuss issues of mutual cooperation PHOTO
Within the framework of his working visit to Gambia, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Salah Ahmed Jama.
During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation within international organizations, particularly the UN, Non-Aligned Movement and OIC. The sides stressed the importance of continuing mutual support of candidates and initiatives within international organizations, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Minister Bayramov drew attention to the fact that during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azerbaijan spared no efforts to promote the interests of African countries on international platforms and develop ties with African countries.
The sides stated that there is a wide potential for the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, alternative energy, as well as partnership in the educational and humanitarian spheres. It was noted that the participation of students from Somalia in the scholarship program established by Azerbaijan for the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is commendable.
It was stressed that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan will host this year, creates favourable opportunities for cooperation.
Other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
