Azerbaijan unveils number of passengers served in its airports in September
Azerbaijan's international airports served more than 530,000 passengers in September 2022, which is almost 78% higher than in the same period last year.
A total of 461,000 passengers account for Baku airport, of which 412,000 are international flights, Caliber.Az reports referring to the press service of the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
AZAL and Buta Airways served 164,000 and 56,000 passengers on international flights during the specified period, that is, 47% of the total number of international flights.
A total of 29 foreign airlines made regular flights to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in September 2022. The largest number of passengers, not counting AZAL and Buta Airways, was carried by Aeroflot, Turkish Airlines and Utair.
The top ten most popular international destinations from Baku in September included Moscow, Istanbul, Dubai, Tbilisi, Riyadh, Ankara, Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv, Izmir and Antalya. In total, 276 thousand people were served in these areas.
It should be noted that Heydar Aliyev International Airport (IATA: GYD) is the largest airport in Azerbaijan and the region in terms of passenger and cargo traffic, takeoff and landing operations, the area of the air terminal complex and the capacity of the cargo complex.
