Azerbaijani chessplayer wins tournament in China

Azerbaijani chess player Gunay Mammadzade has won the "Belt and Road 2023 World Chess Woman's Summit" tournament held in Sinay, China which ended on January 8.

As Chess-Results reports, she finished the tournament scoring 8.5 points over the 3 days of the tournament. The second contestant is Bibisara Assaubayeva who also scored 8.5 points but became second due to the scoring method of the points.

A total of 12 chess players competed at the tournament from 7 countries.

As a result, Mammadzade now scores 2,472 total points in her FIDE ranking, earning her place 935 in the international arena, according to FIDE's official website.
