Azerbaijani minister highlights green energy export plans at conference in Germany

24 September 2024 20:50

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has said that over 70 per cent of Azerbaijan's "green energy" will be exported.

Shahbazov made these remarks during the "Energy Transition Stage" at the WindEnergy Hamburg conference, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He highlighted that more than 70 per cent of the green energy to be developed over the next six years - approximately 7 GW - will be exported. A new energy supply map for Europe, featuring various routes, is currently being developed.

Shahbazov informed about the implementation of green energy corridors such as "Caspian Sea-Black Sea-Europe," which will initially supply 4 GW of green energy to Europe, and "Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Europe," which plans to export 1 GW of renewable energy from Nakhchivan, with future prospects for transmitting electricity from the Caspian Sea and Central Asia to Turkey and Europe.

He announced the upcoming signing of an "Intergovernmental Agreement on Strategic Partnership for the Development and Transmission of Green Energy" among Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as discussions on connecting the "Caspian Sea-Black Sea-Europe" green energy corridor to Central Asia.

WindEnergy Hamburg is the world’s biggest and most important wind business platform for exchanging news and views, building networks and closing major deals. National and international wind industry associations cooperate with WindEnergy Hamburg and encourage their members to attend.
