Deputy Minister: Azerbaijan expands road network with 3,400 km of new construction in Karabakh
As of today, 3,400 kilometres of roads have either been completed or are under construction in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region and Eastern Zangezur.
This was announced by Rahman Hummatov, Deputy Minister of Transport and High Technologies, at a press conference summarizing the outcomes of 2024 and plans for 2025, Caliber.Az reports.
According to him, 447 bridges, 16 viaducts, and 41 tunnels have also been built or are in the process of construction.
To recall, since 2021, Azerbaijan has built and repaired over 2,700 kilometres of motorways, including 1,430 kilometres of roads deemed locally significant.
The ongoing road infrastructure projects in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions include the construction of 45 road tunnels with a total length of 69.1 kilometres, as well as over 463 bridges, viaducts, and overpasses spanning approximately 13.4 kilometres.
The Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway, categorized as Class I, stretches for 81.7 kilometres and features 11 bridges, 7 tunnels, and 9 viaducts.
