Deputy minister: Bulgaria and Azerbaijan seek deeper cooperation in agriculture
Development of agriculture remains a strategic priority for both Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister Lozana Vasileva stated at the 7th session of the Bulgarian-Azerbaijani Interstate Committee on Economic Cooperation in Sofia, local media reports, citing the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Vasileva noted that agriculture is not only a traditional sector for both countries but also a promising area where cooperation can yield significant results through the exchange of knowledge, technologies, and best practices.
“We can consolidate our efforts in a number of areas, including cooperation in agricultural science and technology, aquaculture, sustainable fisheries management, and the development of the fish trade,” she added.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the importance of encouraging the participation of Bulgarian and Azerbaijani companies in international exhibitions and fairs hosted by either country.
Another key element of bilateral cooperation, she emphasised, is the collaboration between the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency and the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan. This partnership aims to exchange experience and coordinate efforts in food safety, plant and animal health, and the import and export of products subject to veterinary and phytosanitary controls.
In conclusion, Vasileva underscored that such forums provide fresh impetus to economic and agricultural cooperation and lay a sustainable foundation for future achievements.
