Earthquake observation borehole station starts operating in Shusha VIDEO
Turkish Disaster Management and Emergency Situations Department (AFAD) has announced that the first borehole earthquake observation station abroad has been launched in the city of Shusha of friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan.
The observation station, developed in cooperation between AFAD and ANAS (National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan), can be used to track earthquakes anywhere in the world, Caliber.Az reports, citing AFAD’s page on social network X.

"For the observation station, a 100-metre deep borehole protected by steel pipes has been drilled. Two highly sensitive earthquake sensors are placed in the borehole. The sensors can register both the speed of the Earth and the vibration of the Earth's surface. The sensors can even register high-definition micro-vibrations without surface noise," the report says.
